Our name is derived from the Bambara phrase “anke djé, anke bé" which means "everyone gather together in peace."

Alicia Bello
Founder and Executive Designer
Alicia Bello is the founder and creative force behind Ankedjé Republic. Founded in 2014, Ankedjé Republic seeks to juxtapose Alicia’s experiences as a Nigerian-American by providing design that is traditional yet modern, creative yet functional, and luxurious yet accessible.
As a proud “third culture kid,” Alicia is passionate about political and economic development across the African diaspora.
Her design seeks to elevate Black art and culture in our collective consciousness. Ankedjé Republic is black-owned, African-made, and globally-conscious. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and each product is designed with you (our republic) in mind.
